Susan, here, course instructor of ANTIPODS here at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. We are 2/3 through our three-week spring intensive course and the 14 students here are working hard!

We started the course with some quick "sketches" to think about Australia - those of you who live there might find some of our ideas a bit cliche and funny!

Beata sent up a list of "Top 10 Australian Artists" (and I added one as well as the Australian artists in the Sydney Biennale last year that I visited) - the students made "imaginary archives" about a contemporary, Australian artist or flora/fauna ... Watch for postings of this work by the students!

We also made lists of light-weight materials  that might "travel-light" to Australia. Students will post some of these here too soon!

And we worked on a project, Design2BMade, which has a designer and another student maker.

In case any of you want to try to MAKE one of these projects (using drinking straws plus another material or two ...) feel free! We won't post the pictures of the results yet - next week! So if you make any of these, post your pictures first! (we looked at work by Sol Lewitt and his diagrams for others to make his wall drawings etc ...). For Design2BMade project instructions by the U of S student, follow the link below!

(expect a few minutes with the Zip Extractor to access these - get your straws ready!)
Here's the link to student project instructions - give 'em a try!
